WEEE Scrap Bulletin

The traditional computer recycling continues to evolve and expand to encompass the broad spectrum of electronics.
Waste Electronics and Electrical Equipment (WEEE) includes any electronic device with a battery or an electrical cord.

In an effort to manage the handling, marketing and recycling, WEEE scrap has been segmented into four groups designated by the letters B, C, F and M.
Each of the four classes of WEEE scrap is then subdivided into classifications by weight, sorted into groupings of items that weigh less than 10 lbs., items that weigh 10 to 50 lbs. and those items over 50 lbs.



Class B WEEE Scrap
Class B WEEE Scrap includes all items that contain a battery
(excluding those items with monitors or flat screens).

Class B 10 - items under 10 lbs.
Class B 50 - 10 lbs. to 50 lbs.
Class B 51 - items over 50 lbs.


Class C WEEE Scrap
Class C WEEE Scrap includes those items with an electrical cord with no monitor, flat screen or battery.

Class C 10 - items under 10 lbs.
Class C 50 - 10 lbs. to 50 lbs.
Class C 51 - items over 50 lbs.





Class F WEEE Scrap
Class F WEEE Scrap includes all items with a flat screen display
(LCD - liquid crystal display or plasma technology).

Class F 10 - items under 10 lbs.
Class F 50 - 10 lbs. tor 50 lbs.
Class F 51 - items over 50 lbs.


Class M WEEE Scrap
Class M WEEE Scrap includes all items with a cathode ray tube (CRT).

Class M 10 - items under 10 lbs.
Class M 50 - 10 lbs. to 50 lbs.
Class M 51 - items over 50 lbs.




Poly E-Scrap

In addition to Class B, C, F and M WEEE scrap, grades and specifications have been established for Poly E-Scrap to facilitate the marketing and recycling of mixed plastics that are sourced from electronics waste.
Poly E-Scrap refers to mixed grades a scrap plastics segregated from non-plastic materials that are typically generated by a WEEE scrap recycler. This grade may contain an assorted mix of several types of plastic including but not limmited to ABS, PolyCarbonate, Polystyrene, Polyethylene and may include fire retardant compounds.
